Peaches the Cat

December 30, 2002

Here is Peaches the cat. She lived to be 20 years old. She was born at our house (her mother was Anne-Marie’s cat Taffy) in Terre Haute, IN. She came with us to Manasass, VA and then moved again when my parents retired to Columbia, SC.

Chalet High Timeshare

March 29, 1987

In March of 1987, my parents bought a time share in Chalet High in the Bayse, Virginia. The place has since fallen into disrepair and apparently the previous owner wasn’t spending the owners money on upkeep of he units.

We spent several summers here in the late 1980’s but we mostly traded the week for another location.

Here is the original brochure.

One thing worth noting about timeshare, even after you die, you still have to keep paying the maintenance fees. They are very difficult to sell, usually you have to give them away. So never buy timeshare.

October 7, 1982

After nine months of being close, the Brazil, IN Glen-Gery Plant re-opened. Initially 60 people were laid off and 29 people were brought back. My father, Bob Wilkinson, is interviewed in the local paper. This would have been during the Early 1980’s Recession, also known as the “Reagan Recession”.

This is a letter regarding Bob Wilkinson’s pay raise during the 1982 Brazil plant shut down. My father began working for Glen-Gery in 1979 at the Brazil, Indiana Plant. In 1986 he was transferred to the Manassas, Virginia Capitol Plant. He worked there until he was laid off in 1991.
